So, it's finally come to pass. Our local office has been shutdown, and the past couple months of craziness are now officially over. So, what do I do to unwind? Why, hook up with a beautiful redhead, of course...
Meet Nariko.
(more...)Got to my folks' place late last night, and got online this morning. I'm sorry to see that all the photos I sent yesterday did not get posted! It seems like Verizon's picture messaging isn't available everyplace, even though I tried it in what should be their bigger markets (e.g., Montgomery, Dothan, Tallahassee). Oddly enough, all the messages claim they went through, but the only one I see posted is the last one I sent from Huntsville.
Maybe things will work better today. Verizon's got much better coverage here in Florida. As a matter of fact, cellphone signal strength is the best I've seen at my folks'. Not great, but better than nothing!
Found it!
Turns out the program that fetches the pics can't handle more than one pic on the server at a time. Oops, I'd gotten things jugged up Friday night with a couple pics, and it was toast after that. Anyhow, I got most of my pics from yesterday posted now, so you can look at that date on the calendar in the left menu to look at all the pics I sent. Sorry for the hiccup!
Ah, joyous day! I've been wanting to upgrade my Pivot installation here for quite some time, but I ran into problems with my previous attempts.
Last night, I tried playing around with moblogging, and discovered that it broke my blog the same way as my upgrade attempts. As you can see by the "Where's Aaron?" section on the left of the main page, I got it fixed!
(more...)Went by the Botanical Gardens after I'd gotten an invite from Rachel to see her and her friends perform. So I brought my camcorder, and shot them all. Then I went home and loaded Vegas on my laptop, something I've wanted to do for a long time. And after a lot of playing around, I managed to find some decent settings for first editing the files, then saving them as QuickTime MP4s, then converting them to bandwidth-limited MP4s suitable for use on YouTube. That was fun.
Enough techno-talk, here's the Prevailing Winds Flute Ensemble, for your listening pleasure...
If you can read this, you have succesfully installed a version of Pivot. Yay!! To help you further on your way, the following links might be of use to you:
And, of course: Have fun with Pivot!
(more...)We lost a friend yesterday. She was one of those incredibly sweet, constantly smiling, happy girls. It's really tearing me up to think of a 15 year old girl dying like that, and the horror and pain her parents are going through.
Like Dee said in the card we included with the flowers, we'll miss Georgette, but she'll be in our hearts forever.
I stopped by the US Space and Rocket Center yesterday, to see "Roving Mars", a pretty cool movie about our two hardy little 'bots scurrying about the Martian surface. Cool movie; if you get the chance to see it, it's worth it.
As I was on my way out, I noticed an ante-room in the ticket lobby, poked my head in there, and saw the Liberty Chopper! This was built by OCC on "American Chopper" (Discovery Channel, episodes 24 & 25). It turns out it's on permanent display here in Huntsville, save for when it goes out on tour. I shot this video and took some stills of it. Enjoy!
Steve Jobs pissed off the RIAA and a bunch of other pigs with his thoughts on music. He inspired a lot of other people. And he got me to searching.
(more...)Some friends and I went to the Museum of Art where an exhibit of Linda McCartney's photos were on display. She had a real good eye, to say the least. If you're quick, you can still see about her exhibit at the museum via the link.
After seeing the exhibit and exploring around a bit, I was waiting for my friends to catch up, when I noticed it was near sunset. I went back to my car, grabbed my camera and monopod, and took a bunch of pics.
I hope you enjoy looking at these half as much as I enjoyed taking them. But I still wonder what happened to my friends...
